General Organisation
Glen Hills School is a Community 4+ / 10+ co-educational, non-denominal primary school in Glen Parva, serving an area of mixed private and council developments on the South Western boundary of the the City of Leicester. Although in the county of Leicestershire, the school catchment area covers the Gilmorton Ward of the City of Leicester.
Until recently the school was on two sites with the Junior Department on Cork Lane and the Infant Department and 4+ Unit on Featherby Drive. In Autumn 2001 the £1 million Junior Department was completed on the Featherby Drive Site. This meant that for the first time Glen Hills School was all on one site and in modern, purpose-build buildings.
At the age of 10+ (now called Year 5) the children normally transfer onto South Wigston High School. At the age of 14 parents can send their children to Countesthorpe College, Guthlaxton College or any other sceondary school of their choice.
There is a teacher on duty for up to 10 minutes before the start of school. Will parents please ensure that their children do not arrive any earlier than 8:45am.
4+ parents are asked to remain with their children until they are handed over to the Unit staff at 9:00am.
